The Short Run History of DT Splinter
“DT Splinter” or “Du Toit” splinter is our namesake for perhaps the rarest camouflage pattern out of the entire South African library. Pulled right from camouflage tests for the Elite Special Forces “Recces”, one photo of M.J. Du Toit wearing a uniform in this camo exists.
Drawing inspiration from European “splinter” patterns from the likes of Germany, Sweden, & Bulgaria, It mixes the SADF’s “Nutria Brown” with a web of maroon splinters.
Practically nothing is known about whether or not it ever made it beyond this one photograph, and whether or not it was even tested in the field, but its mystique and attachment to one of the most renowned special forces in history captivated us. This photograph is displayed on this page.
